Tiger Woods' Second Mugshot Just Dropped — The Blue Inmate Top Nobody Expected to See

The Martin County Sheriff's Office released a second mugshot of Tiger Woods in a blue inmate top. Here is when it was taken, how it differs from the first, and what the images tell us about what happened.

The Martin County Sheriff's Office in Florida released a second mugshot of Tiger Woods, 50, that has been circulating widely since its publication on April 3 — a photograph taken inside the Martin County jail that shows Woods in a blue inmate shirt with a noticeably grim expression, contrasting sharply with the first image taken at the scene of the crash where he was still in the blue polo shirt he had been wearing when the rollover occurred.

The two-image arc tells a specific story about the arrest process. The first mugshot — widely shared immediately after the March 27 arrest — showed Woods visibly shaken but still in his own clothing, taken at or near the crash site. The second, taken inside the jail facility after processing, shows the specific detail of the inmate clothing that booking procedures produce when a detainee is held for processing.

Woods was charged with DUI and property damage after his Land Rover struck the rear of a trailer on Jupiter Island. A breathalyser registered 0.00 — no alcohol — but Woods declined to submit to a urine test, which under Florida law constitutes a refusal whose legal consequence is the DUI charge. Police described him as appearing to be under the influence of 'some type of medication or drug.' He has had seven back surgeries, a ruptured Achilles tendon, and a 2021 crash that left him with multiple leg fractures — the specific medical history whose pain management involves the medications that police apparently believed were affecting his behaviour.

Woods' statement, posted on his social media accounts on April 1, said: 'I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.' He is reportedly seeking treatment outside the United States.

TMZ Sports, which has covered his legal situation extensively, described his condition and the specific circumstances that produced the arrest — a pattern of incidents stretching from 2009 that, viewed collectively, describes a person navigating severe chronic pain and its management across 17 years. Whether the 'treatment' he refers to addresses that specific underlying pattern or only its most recent manifestation is the question whose answer will determine whether this chapter is a turning point or another incident in a continuing story.
