Trump's Presidential Library Has Two Gold Statues of Himself and It's Going to Be a Hotel

Trump revealed AI-generated renderings of his Miami presidential library featuring two giant gold statues of himself, a gold escalator, and a full-size Air Force One — then admitted it will probably be a hotel.

President Donald Trump unveiled renderings of his planned presidential library on March 30, 2026, sharing a 100-second AI-generated video on Truth Social that shows a glass skyscraper dominating the Miami skyline with TRUMP in large gold lettering near the top. The renderings, designed by Miami-based architecture firm Bermello Ajamil and Partners, depict what the building would look like if it were ever actually built — which Trump himself undermined almost immediately.

The video shows visitors entering through a golden arch adorned with the presidential seal. Inside, a gold escalator recalls the one Trump descended when he announced his 2016 presidential campaign. The Oval Office is recreated with Trump's specific gilded decor. A full-size Air Force One sits in the lobby — specifically the $400 million Boeing 747-8 that Qatar gifted to the administration, which is already generating separate controversy. And in the main auditorium, a towering gold statue of Trump with his fist raised — the pose from his reaction after surviving the July 2024 assassination attempt — dominates the stage.

CNN's rendering describes the building as appearing to be about 50 stories tall, rising well above everything around it including the adjacent historic 17-story Freedom Tower. Eric Trump, who announced the project and said he had 'poured his heart and soul into it over six months,' described it as 'a lasting testament to an amazing man, an amazing developer, and the greatest President our Nation has ever known.'

Then Trump himself appeared on ABC News and told Jonathan Karl that the building would 'most likely be a hotel.' He added: 'I don't believe in building libraries or museums. It's most likely going to be a hotel with a beautiful building underneath and a 747 Air Force One in the lobby, which is going to be a trick.' He gave Eric's designs 'five stars.'

For the land controversy: Miami Dade College voted to transfer 2.63 acres of prime Biscayne Boulevard waterfront — valued at tens of millions — to the state of Florida, which gave it to the Trump library foundation at no cost. Polling found 74% of Miami-Dade County voters opposed giving the land away. An activist lawsuit temporarily blocked the transfer; after a more public revote in December, trustees voted unanimously to proceed.

Michael Che on Saturday Night Live Weekend Update said he thought 'it's cool that the president is going to the theater' — a callback to Trump's Kennedy Center Chicago visit — while declining to specifically comment on the library plans. The two gold statues, the gold escalator, the Qatari jet, and the hotel admission made the library plans among the most discussed domestic news stories of the week.
