Energy bills in Europe are getting more expensive because of the war in the Middle East. Gas and electricity cost more money now.

What can you do to save money on energy? Here are some simple ideas.

First, turn off lights when you leave a room. This uses less electricity.

Second, take shorter showers. Hot water uses energy to heat.

Third, wear warm clothes at home. This means you do not need to use the heating so much.

Fourth, use a washing machine at low temperature. Cold water washing uses less energy.

Fifth, turn off computers and televisions completely. Do not leave them on 'standby'.

Standby mode still uses electricity. Governments in some countries are helping people.

Spain, for example, has reduced taxes on energy. This makes bills a little cheaper.

Some governments are also giving money directly to poor families. This helps them pay their bills.
